The Crazy Ones

“Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They invent. They imagine. They heal. They explore. They create. They inspire. They push the human race forward. Maybe they have to be crazy. While some see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.” — Steve Jobs

Are you crazy enough to think you can make the world a better place?

There are far more ‘crazy ones’ in the world than we realise. Many of them hide their crazy genius for fear of being rejected in some way. It takes courage to be a misfit, a rebel, a troublemaker and to reveal that we see things differently. It’s easier to suppress the truth of our uniqueness and fit in, run with the crowd and keep the status quo. We can keep our heads down, preserve our livelihoods and avoid the wrath of the trolls.

The truth is that we are all unique. Fitting in and obedience to the rules were conveniences created for the industrial revolution, not for today’s rapidly evolving, fully connected world. It’s time to admit the truth of who we are and how we really think, perceive and feel.

Let’s hope we can all access enough crazy genius and have the wisdom and consciousness to create a world we can all enjoy, and pass forward to future generations with pride.

If WE don’t, the consequences are potentially fatal.

There are other kinds of ‘crazy ones’ without wisdom and consciousness who are already forging a new world through terrorism and fear. WE, the powerful leaders of business, need to stand up now and promote sustainable values and practices, to redirect global energy and passion, for the greater good of humanity and our precious Earth.

BUT what if we don’t believe we have such talent and power?

Well we can harness whatever we have and attach it to meaningful pursuits with our best possible intentions. We can stay alert for opportunities to improve, and for risks to manage. We can be honourable in our decisions and judgements. We can challenge ourselves to think bigger and longer term and to step beyond our comfort zones.

We CAN bring the qualities of ‘crazy genius’ to our leadership and inspire others to access their crazy genius too. Imagine a world fuelled by millions of Steve Jobs-style geniuses…now THAT might be the way to solve the worlds most persistent problems…

Go on, I dare you, access your crazy genius today and see what happens.
